Brahmasampradaya

Branches

A lineage of gurus starting with the Hindu god Brahma. ‘Samparadaya’ is a Sanskrit term, meaning ‘to hand down’. The 13th century southwest Indian philosopher/writer/monk Madhvacharya is often credited as the founder of this lineage. His theistic dualist teachings differ from other Hindu teachings, which are usually nondualist or qualified nondualist. These teachings particularly influenced Vishnuism, one of the major Hindu branches.
